Weekends Racing 4th August 2012

August 4, 2013
Another sunday of racing done and we the team spread from Mt Helena to Champion Lakes. In what turned out to be perfect conditions after a wet week, it made it very worth while to get out and enjoy it.

Young Jayden Radisic was competing the West Australian Junior Time Trial Championships down at Champion Lakes. In his first competetive outing since the Crit season he had a fantastic ride to finish 5th in a field of 20 in the under 15 division. Averaging just under 39km/h the future look very bright for this young man.

Up in the hills at Mt Helena another top notch event was run by the West Coast Masters Club.
The day didn't start to good for the team as we received a SMS from Sam Smith telling us he had put out his back while shaving his legs. So in A Grade we Eddy Hollands, Chris Glasby and Chris Brown. It was 4 laps of a 20km circuit, it took one and half laps before a move went clear. This included Glasby, Andrew Patterson and Matt Upton. This looked promising as the bunch lost interest in the break until a few individuals decided they didnt want the race to end that way. It wasn't until going into the bell lap that a lead group of 12 had moved away from the rest of the field. With Eddy doing the majority of the work with the intention of getting the best result possible for Glasby as he has a chance of winning the season long points competition. Glasby finished 3rd in the sprint won be John Gregg. Our plan worked out nicely as Glasby has moved up too 3rd in the season long points comp.
In C Grade we had Tanya Birkbeck fine tuning herself for the World Masters Championships in September, finishing in very nice 9th place. Then doing another 2 laps to complete her training for the day.
In D Grade we had our new lady in Jane Higgins wearing the kit with pride and sprinting to fantastic 2nd place, beating all the guys. Looking forward to see how she develops in the future as a masters ladies rider.

With another wet week on the forecast, hopefully people we get out with their mudguards and keep up the good form.
