Weekends Racing 11th August 2013

August 11, 2013
The weather gods were on our side today at the WCMCC out in Neerabup. It looked like it was going to be very wet day but turned out at to decent day although a bit windy.
In D Grade we had Jane Higgins lining up again after her 2nd place last weekend, she topped it by winning today in fine style. She seems to be improving every weekend and it will not be long before she joining Tanya Birkbeck in C Grade. Look out fellas.
In A Grade we had Eddy Hollands, Sam Smith and Chris Glasby. The first 2 laps were dominated by attacking riding. This caused the winning move to get away with Glasby, Pat Heyburn from Unicorn, Matt Upton(Dome), Colin Rose(KD) and Brett Stapleton(Hall Training). This group looked very dangerous and worked well together.
Going into 7 laps to go. Sam being the untimate team man today, did a big turn in the crosswinds closing the gap close enough for Eddy, with rejuvenated enthusiasm from Matt Poyner Racing Systems, to jump across with Ian Gregory. Once Eddy got in the move Pat Heyburn stopped working but this didn't stop the others working well together to build up a nice lead. Glasby punctured with 5 laps to go but got another wheel and rejoined the main field.
The attacks started again in the break with 3 laps to go causing the break to split in the crosswinds. With 2laps to go Eddy and Ian Gregory lead from Brett and Pat. Unfortunately the other were caught by the bunch.
Eddy won from Ian in a hard slog of a finish as both guys were fealing the pinch from a hard day. Brett got the better of Pat for 3rd. In the bunch finish for 5th Paul Foxwell won the sprint from Chris and again Sam playing teammate slowed in the finish to allow Glasby to get as many pionts as he could for the season Pionts Comp.
Hopefully the weather improves next week and we all can get some good training with the first open race in nearly 2months.
