Mark Keyser Masters 2 Day TourToday saw the end of the Mark Keyser 2Day Tour.
Day started with 8.5km Time Trail down at Wandi. It was an wet and cold day In A Grade Sam Smith show good tour form and finish 3rd. Eddy Hollands finished 5th. Chris Brown, Martin Depiazzi and Magnus Rudisele got through ready for a fight in the afternoons road stage.
The afternoon 70km Road Stage was an aggressive affair with the EHBS Team needing to attack to move up in the Overall Points. On the 2nd of 8 laps Eddy snuck away with Matt Upton(Dome) and Patrick Hayburn(Unicorn). With time not being the issue these 3 worked just hard enough to stay away but leave some energy for tomorrow. Eddy won the stage with Pat 2nd and Matt 3rd. Sam got away from the main field and crossed the line in 4th. The others did a fantastic job for the team leaders and made life much easier for us.
Day 2 started with another 70km road stage up at Pickering Brook. Thankfully it wasn't raining with made everybody alot happier. In a strange start to the race Dippa just rode away with Doug Stewart. Chris and Magnas took turns to sneak away providing a launching pad for either Eddy or Sam. Eddy used his teammates to work his way to the leaders and with the rest of the bunch watching Sam this allowed Eddy to ride away with Doug and Phil Diesel. Eddy Just pipped Doug in the sprint. Sam crossed the line 2nd in the bunch sprint for 6th.
With Eddy all but winning the overall the main objective was to secure Sams 2nd place overall in the Afternoon Crit. After about 35mins of racing Sam got away with Doug and Matt again. Paul Foxwell Tried to bridge but with Eddy following him he was forced to try without any help. Sam finished 3rd after realising that if he stayed away 2nd overall was his. Eddy attacked Paul with 4 laps to go just to make sure that he didn't make it across and spoil Sams Party.
So after all that Eddy won overall, Sam finished 2nd overall with Dippa just outside the top 10. Chris and newby Magnus did a fantastic job for the team making life easy for us.
In C Grade we had Keith Hickey I am sorry Keith but I don't know the results from your races but hopefully he can fill us in with a short report from his race. But I do know he finished 10th overall. Well done buddy.
Time to finally enjoy the long weekend and get ready for next week.
