Tour of Poyang Lake 2014 - Stage 4Stage Four was a 85km race around a 17km circuit in the town of Jiujiang. We all rode to the start and passed what must have been the whole of the towns people coming out to watch the race.
When we got to the start area there were even more people waiting for us to showup.
After sign on we went back to the team car and eventually where surrounded by people wanting photos with us. Even to the point that babies where being handed over for photos. It was a bit hectic so it was actually nice to get the race under way.
It wasn't until the second lap that a group of 4 got away which became 3 after one of the guys punctured and came back to the bunch. The time gap only got out too 54secs and it was only a matter of time before the sprinter teams took control and brought the break back with in the last 10km.
Jake tried a few times to get another move going to bridge to the break. But the RTS Team were having none of it and slowly brought things back together ever time.
As the Dutch team had just finished bringing the break back at the top of the major hill of the day, the bunch propped and this was the signal for Eddy to try a sneaky move. It looked ok but once another team got organised the bunch was back together as we started the last 5km through the town to the finish line.
It came down to a bunch sprint again. Heksa had a good day finishing 7th. Amir showing improvement day by day got involved and finished 31st. Samai suffered from cramp again, which we need to get sorted out and rolled in 36th. As a result we finished 6th on teams together. So the confidence in building and we are getting better day by day.
We rode back to the hotel to the cheers of the crowd. After lunch we then had a 290km transfer which took 4-5 hrs, China time.
It was then time to eat again and get things ready for stage 5.
