2 wins in 5 days.On sunday the Peter Clarke Memorial was run in changing conditions. With 8 starters in the race it was pointed out by our team manager "If we don't get at least 2 people on the podium it will be disappointing".
A break of 6 riders developed after about 20km of racing with Alex Downie and Will Heath present, this was good for us as if the break was to stay away, Will would have won the sprint. But a determined chase mainly by Bradley Linfield, brought the break back with 3laps or 45km to go. This was the signal for a counter attack, Eddy Hollands attacked straight away and with no reaction from the bunch he built up a nice lead. With Eddy up the road, this took the pressure of the other guys in the team.
A group of 4 got away from the bunch with about 30km to go which included Sam Smith. Sam did just enough to make sure that his group would stay away but not catch Eddy up front. As it turns it worked out perfectly. Eddy won the race after spending 45km solo of the front, about 20seconds later Sam won the sprint from his group for 2nd. Will still had enough in the tank to win the bunch sprint for 6th. Young Nathan Lyons followed Will and finished in about 8th place.
Another great day for the Eddy Hollands Bicycle Services Team.
