Another good weekend of racing. On the international scene William Heath and Neil Stummer raced the Tour of Hellas in Greece. What seemed to be a very tough tour. Big WIll made in through the Tour despite crashing going downhill at 65km/h in the rain. Unfortunately Neil suffered up one of the big mountains but showed what he his made off by finishing the stage when quite a few others took the soft option and got into the sag wagon. He was out of the time limit but won a few fans along the way.
Young Dylan Spiby is continuing his great form regularly getting podium results racing in France. Read some of his race reports in previous news articles.
Up at the World Junior Fund Raiser Criterium at Wangara we had Eddy, Alex and in his last race before he flies home, Heksa. The race was very fast averaging 45km/h. The winning break formed about half way through the race, firstly Heksa make the front group then Eddy launched his trade mark big gear bridge to the break. The break of 5 worked well together, with the bunch never far behind it was important to do so. Being Heksa's last race Eddy tried to set him up for the finish but he just didn't have the speed to win but still finished a very nice 2nd place. Eddy crossed in third and Alex finished in 8th place, not bad considering he had a big days work at the Groove in the Moo Festival down south.
Up in Chittering we had Sam Smith,Chris Glasby, Marty Depiazzi and Tanya Birkbeck racing in the masters event. By all reports it was a tough race, Chris make the first real break allowing Sam to relax in the bunch and get himself ready if they were to be caught. The break was caught and as expected the next break went away. This move stayed away and Sam finished in 2nd with Glasby still having the legs to finish 2nd in the bunch for a very good 8th. Marty supported the boys on a hilly course that wouldn't have suited him but still managed a very good 13th.
Tanya lined up in the C-Grade race and showed up over 2/3rds of the bunch to finish in 10th place.
Out in the hills of Perth we had all our social riders enjoying a ride in beautiful conditions and of course each others company.
Everyone is looking forward to another good week of weather and getting out on there bikes.
