Glasby Wins Again!

September 24, 2012
Chris Glasby continued on his winning ways on the weekend at the West Coast Masters Massed Start event sponsored by Franzone Motors.
In a field of nearly 70starters the EHBS Team had Eddy Hollands, Sam Smith, Chris Glasby and Martin Depiazzi. With Chris up the road all day with different groups it took the pressure of the others to do anything except control the bunch and patrol any moves that may have gone across to Chris's breakaways.
The bunch chased hard for a few laps with different guys swapping off trying to bring back the breaks. With the rising crosswinds it made life a little bit difficult in the bunch at times. But with Dippa on form leading into the national titles in NSW in a few weeks and Sam who is always in form, even if it did come back together we where confident of a strong finish in the bunch sprint. Eddy was always going to be the suspect one after just returning from a 5week holiday in europe.
Going into the last lap Chris was away with Tim Roberts, this left the EHBS boys and Glen Parker boys too control the bunch and make sure these 2 guys stayed away until the end. With each team setting a false tempo on the front it confused the bunch a bit as it may have looked like we where setting it up for a bunch sprint. As a result coming into the last kilometre the 2 out front still had a 15sec lead with 1km to go. At this point Chris who had rested behind Tim attacked and managed to hold off a fast finishing bunch lead home by Eddy after a very nice controlled lead out by Sam. Unfortunately Dippa got lost in the melee of riders trying to line up behind Eddy. Thankfully no-one crashed and the Team came home with the winning trophy, 2nd place and Sam rolled in for 14th still in the money.
A great day for the team and a nice lead up to the Mark Keyser 2day this weekend.
