Tour of Poyang Lake Day 3 - FengxinAnother cold day - the mercury topping a whole eight degrees (maybe - depending on whose Garmin is the most accurate) on the course but at least it wasn't raining. The roads were a little wet but drying by the time the race was underway.
The organisers shortened the race from 10 laps of a 6 kilometre flat course around the inner city of Fengxin to only 6 laps - just 36 km in total with sprints at the end of laps 2 and 4. There was some considerable grumbling about this the night before but on the plus sidet meant less time out in the cold.
From the gun the pace was set with some riders struggling to keep up. Scott made a few moves at the front and got away two times for parts of laps but the bunch was very wary and given the short distance didn't let anything go.
Will took the first sprint beating the City of Perth riders but left the second sprint to some of the locals to fight out.
On the final lap Eddy produced a trademark perfect lead-out for Will, letting him off the leash with 250 metres to go, going on to win by a few bike lengths. To quote the big man: "textbook". Everyone else finished comfortably in the bunch.
The rock start treatment ensued - TV interviews with Will; more TV interviews with other team members when Will was busy; and photos of the team with adoring local fans.
