National Criterium TitleTeam EHBS had William Heath and Eddy Hollands travel across to Ballarat for the National Criterium Title held up and down Sturt Street.
Will was first off in the under 23 event, 30 laps of a 1.1km curcuit with a head wind up the home straight and a tailwind down the back straight with a hotdog turn at each end. In a very hotly contested event with over 70 starters, the race was on from the very start. One guy even got a fine for leaving the start line before the flag was dropped. A break of 11 guys escaped early and with 4 genesys riders in that move it would never be caught. Will tried a couple of times to get across to the winning move but just couldn't get to them. Will eventually crossed the line in 14th place with only 30guys finishing. A fantastic effort lfor his first National Title.
Eddy Hollands was next starting in the Elite Race, 40laps of the same circuit as the under 23 race. With 80 starters it was a long way from the front of the race to the back. After a few attacks early on Cameron Meyer decided to test his legs. He spent neary 3/4 of the race out front by himself. With all the biggest national teams chasing him it made it very hard for everyone in the bunch, the pace only dropped below 40km/h in the hotdog turns at each end of the course. Cameron went on for terrific win with what was left of the bunch sprinting for 2nd. Eddy finished in 30th place just at the back off the main bunch.
